ONE of the fastest-growing law firms in York has taken over one of the city's oldest practices for an undisclosed sum.
Described as a "merger", all 17 staff Munby & Scott will move out of their base in Blake Street into Langleys' York office in Micklegate in June Langleys, which has 315 employees, has been growing by 25 per cent each year for the last three years.
Munby & Scott has been in York for 250 years, providing specialist advice on commercial, agricultural and residential conveyancing, plus wills and probate work. Now it will take on the Langleys name.
Mike Williamson, managing partner at Langleys said: "Munby and Scott is a well-established firm in York and we are delighted to be joining forces.
"The firm has been a success for the past 250 years, which is testament to their hard work and impeccable client service. We feel that our business objectives complement each other, and I look forward to further success in the future."
Michael Shannon, partner at Munby and Scott, said: "Fiona Buckton, Giles Scott and I are delighted to be joining forces with Langleys.
"This is a progressive step, and we are looking forward to sharing our skills, knowledge and client base to further enhance our reputation and stature in the market place." Mr Shannon will continue as a partner at Langleys.
The deal follows a raft of recent recruitment at Langleys and two partner promotions for its employment and corporate teams.
Langleys was this year recognised by the Legal 500 and ranked as the 112th largest UK law firm. It is also recognised by The Lawyer magazine as one of the 50 fastest-growing UK law firms.
