A BUSINESS entrepreneur is helping firms in York and North Yorkshire to acquire cash to "go green."
Adam Woodhall, of PeopleProfitPlanet, is officially advising companies how to access grants to provide up to £1,000 worth of staff training between now and the end of March. The Business Resource Efficiency Improvement Grant (BREIG) is provided by Yorkshire Forward through the Business Resource Efficiency and Waste (BREW) programme.
It helps local businesses take the necessary steps towards reducing their carbon footprint, boosting their profits along the way.
Mr Woodhall said: "Bosses go into each year with determination to cut waste and drive through all the simple carbon-cutting measures people are doing at home, but often not in the workplace. They want to showcase their corporate social responsibility and know they can save more than 20 per cent on energy and consumables bills.
"For example, a more careful use of computers alone can lead to a £50 per head a year saving. But it's not always easy to harness the goodwill that exists and reduce overheads when it isn't one person's job or part of a corporation's core business."
PeopleProfitPlanet provides a package of workshops, quick-win solutions and longer-term systems to improve staff motivation.
Mr Woodhall said: "The best firms recognise that recruitment, retention and results are all driven by a sense of pride in the company. Give teams the tools to work together, the responsibility and the power to act and it's eye-opening how quickly they grab the opportunity and cut costs.
