AN UNNAMED major organisation in York is considering getting The Edge.
It is interested in occupying all of The Edge, the newly-completed top grade £3.5 million speculative office development in York.
The organisation wants the offices as an extension to its existing premises, but a big consideration is whether the 14,500 sq ft office development in Hospital Fields Road, should be bought or leased.
Miles Lawrence, of York-based letting agents Lawrence Hannah, said other organisations have also been shown around the project, looking at leasing on a floor-by-floor basis.
He said: "This is one of the most exciting speculative office developments in York for years. Its bold and contemporary design, combined with its excellent facilities and superb location is a winning combination."
The project, by Shepherd Developments, part of the York-based Shepherd Group, is within easy reach of the city centre, the River Ouse and Millennium Bridge.
Architects' practice Sturgeon North designed the two-storey temperature-regulated office building with parking for 34 cars and 32 cycles in a secure, landscaped setting. The accommodation on each floor is more than 7,288 sq ft.
The building method was revolutionary, using a pioneering ClickBrick system from Holland in the UK for the first time. The bricks are clicked together without mortar and can be laid in all weather conditions.
Richard Squire, project director of Shepherd Developments, said: "The Edge is a really exciting and pioneering project, the like of which York has never seen.
"The fact that we built it speculatively is a massive vote of confidence in the York market."
