AN INVESTMENT in the latest technology which allows the “re-mapping” of individual cars in line with driver requirements has been made by a Harrogate independent garage.
Carmaster UK has become the first garage in the Harrogate district to invest in Viezu ECU computer technology, which enhances vehicles’ performance and fuel efficiency.
Dave Pullan, the garage’s founder and director, invested £4,500 in the technology ahead of a report last month by the Green Fiscal Commission, which includes proposals to triple the fuel duty levy, making petrol even more expensive.
Dave, 44, who runs the company with his wife, Rebecca, said: “The Viezu technology differs from other systems because it allows specific enhancements to be downloaded to individual vehicles identified by chassis numbers.
“It also enables us to create performance upgrades for precise driver requirements, such as being able to pull out more quickly at a busy junction.”
He claims the advanced form of tuning could save a car 20 per cent on diesel consumption, and a little less on petrol.
