THE DRAGON has roared into York.
Dragon Fireplaces, the rapidly-expanding fireplace retailer with outlets in Wetherby and Askern, near Doncaster, has leased a 6,000 sq ft showroom and warehouse in Leeman Road. Four new jobs have been created.
The firm's landlord is Hills Office Supplies, which previously traded from the site. It closed its York operation last year in order to concentrate on its West Yorkshire outlets.
Martin Brewster, Dragon Fireplaces' managing director, said: "This is a major investment in the future of the firm. We have been looking for a property in York for some time and this building ticks all the right boxes."
Letting agent Andrew McBeath, of MPC Property Consultancy, of Clifton Moor, said: "Leeman Road is constantly in the spotlight; whether it is because of the York Central proposals, the York Wheel or rejected planning applications, people know about it."
