NORTH Yorkshire farmland is being snapped up – because it is seen as a safe asset in an uncertain world.
Two lots of land near Marton cum Grafton in North Yorkshire have been sold for £300,000 more than expected.
Carter Jonas sold a lot of 41.8 acres with a guide price of £230,000 for £335,000 and a second lot, a 63.9-acre plot, was sold for £530,000, £185,000 over its £345,000 guide price.
Both lots were sold to local farmers.
Andrew Fallows, partner at Carter Jonas and head of auctioneering for the north, said the final sale values exceeded their upper expectations.
He said: “The amount of interest received at the auction demonstrated the strength of the market in Yorkshire, as purchasers see land as a safe asset in an uncertain world.”
Carter Jonas has also been instructed to sell a 120-acre block of arable land south of Boroughbridge.
