MAKE-York is getting suited and booted for this year’s York Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge on Sunday.
The local young professionals’ networking group is dressing up in formal business wear for their first major fundraising event.
The group, which was formed nine months ago and has more than 200 members, is raising money for local mental health charity Our Celebration.
Simon Rodgers, team captain of the Make-Our Celebration Team, said: “We wanted to do something a little different from the usual dressing-up for a charity event. The race takes place on a Sunday, so we’re really hoping that our team will stand out from the crowd in our business attire.”
Our Celebration’s fundraising officer Ian Savage said: “It is wonderful for a small local charity like Our Celebration to gain the support of Make-York.
“All of the money that will come to Our Celebration from the Make-York team will go directly to supporting local people who are recovering from episodes of severe mental ill-health.”
