LEGAL executives from throughout York and North Yorkshire have officially started their own organisation.

Twenty five legal executives, who do similar work to solicitors, attended the official launch of the first-ever ILEX York and North Yorkshire branch at Bettys, York. The ILEX president, Judith Gordon-Nichols. and chief executive, Diane Burleigh, both of Bedford, also joined legal executives from all levels, as well as local solicitors and Angela Smith from York Law College, at the evening launch gathering.

After speeches from the ILEX president and branch chairman, Patricia White, of Pinkney Grunwells, Scarborough, there was a quiz and celebration dinner.

The branch aims to help members with their studies and support those considering joining the profession as well as working alongside schools, colleges and universities.

Membership of the new ILEX York and North Yorkshire branch is open to all ILEX members throughout York and North Yorkshire.
