GAME audio company Media Mill has crowned its tenth year in business by being shortlisted in the Develop Awards, which honour the best in game development in the UK and Europe.

Media Mill, which was founded in 2000 by Jerry Ibbotson, a former journalist on BBC Radio One's Newsbeat, is a finalist in the Audio Outsourcing category, which covers companies that provide audio and sound for game developers, including musicians, sound designers and voice recording studios.

Media Mill, based at Towthorpe, York, has just finished recording more than thirty vehicles for the forthcoming “Driver” title being produced by Ubisoft Reflections. It has also been working on the new “World Rally Championship” game with Italian developers Milestone and on “The Shoot”, Cohort Studio’s launch title for the PlayStation 3 Motion Controller.

Another title they worked on, Disney’s “Split Second”, is in the running for a Develop Award for Audio Accomplishment.

Jerry Ibbotson said: “I take it as a sign of how far we’ve come in ten years. It also shows how much faith our customers have in us. Without them lobbying on our behalf we wouldn’t have made it to the final seven.”

The Develop Awards will be presented at a gala dinner in Brighton on July 14.
