A YORK businessman and graduate have paired up to launch a new range of designer sportswear.

Boney Fish UK, has been set up by Flavio Di Giacomo, owner of Gillygate sandwich shop Brill Food, and George Beaumont, a recent York University graduate.

Boney Fish started in South Africa in 2004 when Flavio's brother-in-law Warren Kilfoil was designing gear for a scuba-diving trip.

Warren's t-shirts were popular with his friends and he was encouraged to develop a range of mens' and womens' sportswear.

Now Flavio and George sell the products online at boneyfishuk.co.uk from an office in Bootham, York.

“Obviously it's a risk,” said Flavio. “But we're really passionate about this brand. It's an exciting time for us.”

George added: “Boney Fish offers something new to York: designer dive wear that you can wear casually too. We want to bring this to York.”
