SOLARWALL has extended its partnership with Ryedale District Council to provide free cavity wall and loft insulation to residents over 60 years old.

The York-based insulation and renewable energies business has been working as Ryedale District Council’s recommended installer for more than five years.

So far 10,000 residents have taken advantage of the scheme, which could help them save up to 50 per cent on their annual fuels bills.

The announcement of this scheme comes shortly after the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Chris Huhne, visited Solarwall and called upon energy suppliers to work harder to insulate lofts and walls ensuring that consumers, particularly low income and vulnerable households, receive measures which can offer significant savings to their energy bills.

Managing director Sue Lamb said: “This announcement provides a significant boost to the insulation industry and will enable more homeowners to directly benefit from lower fuel bills, whilst also reducing their impact on the climate.

"The partnership with Ryedale District Council will allow its residents to directly benefit from the new government’s commitment to insulating more homes.”
