BUSINESSES in North Yorkshire feature prominently in the latest Yorkshire “food bible”.

Just launched by deliciouslyorkshire, the campaigning brand which champions greater use of regional produce, it is the 2010 edition of Yorkshire’s Own Kitchen.

Described as the ultimate recipe book and guide to food and drink in the region, it showcases producers, retailers and hospitality venues throughout North Yorkshire.

Among local producers featured are Shepherds Purse Cheeses of Thirsk; carrot growers Hobson’s Farming Ltd of Crockey Hill, York; poultry farmers Herb Fed of Pilmoor, York; Holme Farmed Venison of Sherburn-in-Elmet; and Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil of Malton.

The hospitality section features a host of hotels and gastropubs, including the Black Swan Hotel, Helmsley, the Alice Hawthorn in Nun Monkton and The Abbey Inn, opposite Byland Abbey, at Byland, near Coxwold.

Among the retailers mentioned are multiple winners in The Press Business Awards, The Balloon Tree Farmshop and Café; the Castle Howard Farm Shop; and last year’s Farm Shop Retailer of the Year in the deliciouslyorkshireawards, The Farmer’s Cart in Towthorpe, York.
