NEW tourism minister John Penrose will pay a whistle-stop tour of York and North Yorkshire this afternoon.
He will board a steam train from York to Scarborough as part of his fact-finding mission which could have a crucial bearing on decisions he makes next month about how UK tourism is supported from Westminster.
Accompanying him throughout will be officials from the regional tourism organisation, Welcome to Yorkshire.
