A RECORD 1,650 visitors attended the Motability One Big Day event held at Yorkshire Air Museum, Elvington, on Thursday.
Organisers said today it was the biggest response to invitations in the event’s history. This number was separate from the Museum’s normal visitors, meaning that nearly 2,000 people actually saw the event.
Models were on display from 11 car dealerships in the region, with many offering free test drives.
The free Yorkshire showcase kicked off the four One Big Day events which will be hosted by Motability this summer.
Motability is the worry-free way to get a brand new car in exchange for the Higher Rate Motability component of the Disability Living Allowance or War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement.
Ian Richardson, communications manager for the Yorkshire Air Museum, said: “We are very proud to have become such a successful venue for this very worthwhile event, which really brings home to you just how many families, of all backgrounds, are affected by serious disability.
“The show highlights the huge range of vehicles and equipment that is available through Motability, to help people live a more fulfilling life.”
Other One Big Day events will take place at the RBS Williams F1 Conference Centre, Brands Hatch and Manchester United Football Stadium.
