THREE York businesses are moving to Pocklington to expand and create new jobs.
Portable cabin and modular buildings company Britcab Ltd, which sells and hires second hand cabins, bought a 1.5 acre plot at the 12-acre Allerthorpe Business Park, which has just released a further 3.5 acres of development land for specific design and build projects.
The new facility includes an existing warehouse which is currently being refurbished. Joint managing director, Dale Wilsdon said the business wanted to remain within 10 miles of York in order to take advantage of the existing skilled labour force in the city. “We have already created jobs in anticipation of the move and there is likely to be more.”
Urban Construction Interiors has bought a 0.7 acre plot at the park, where it will start this month to build a new 10,000 sq ft headquarters, including a brand new joinery manufacturing facility. Richard Brosenitz, owner and managing director, said: “This brand new facility will further support the firm’s ongoing expansion and reinforce its position as one of Yorkshire’s leading construction and interior fit-out companies.”
The Stable Company, has increased its existing space by 50 per cent by buying a 0.6-acre plot to build its new headquarters in spring.
Gareth Barber, managing director, said: “All three areas of our business - stables, outdoor buildings and garages - are growing and we will need to add to our current workforce of 17 in the very near future.”
Tyre importer and distribution company Bond International Tyres is also to rent a 30,000 sq ft unit at the park.
Miles Lawrence of Lawrence Hannah LLP, joint agent for the park with Williams Property Consultants, said: "With very few opportunities in the York area to purchase clean fully serviced building plots with B1/B8 consent, this location only nine miles from the A64 dual carriageway is proving to be tremendously popular for businesses wanting to own and build their own facilities."
