A SEMINAR based on Prime Minister David Cameron’s “Big Society” will take place at the Merchant Taylor’s Hall in Aldwark on Thursday.
The free event, organised by the York-based Charity Bank in co-operation with Sheffield Hallam University, will see topics of social value and collaboration raised by two guest speakers.
Craig Dearden-Phillips, bestselling author of Your Chance To Change The World, will front the seminar. He has been described as one of the UK’s leading speakers on the future of the social sector.
Professor Peter Wells is to share his experience of Social Return On Investment (SROI), a method in which civil society organisations can measure their social, environmental and economic impacts when applying for funding.
He will also speak about how the Charity Bank In The North programme can help the process.
The talk has been prompted by the withdrawal of Government grants and public spending cuts the need for organisations to demonstrate the social value they are creating in order to achieve funding.
