SHEPHERD Construction, which is based in York, has won a top regional property award.
The construction company scooped Best Contractor at this year’s Yorkshire Property Awards organised by the Variety Club, for its commitment to finishing schemes. The judges noted Shepherd’s commitment to the 500,000 sq ft Trinity Walk retail scheme in Wakefield, having acted as a catalyst for reviving the stalled project by forming a development partnership with AREA Property Partners and Sovereign Land. The scheme opened last week.
The panel also praised Shepherd Construction for battling on with the City Lofts project in Sheffield and completing it in uncertain times.
The judges said: “Shepherd puts its money where its mouth is. It has stayed committed to finishing schemes at a time when others have shied away.”
Colin Sargeant, Shepherd Construction’s East Division managing director, said: “It is fantastic to have scooped this accolade as it recognises our commitment and hard work, and the innovative approach that we take to ensure projects remain on track.
“It is particularly fitting to win this award in the same week that we completed Trinity Walk, which had been one of the highest-profile casualties of the recession until we brought together a new development partnership.”
