STUDENTS at York College have created a free website for a television repair firm in Clifton Moor.

As part of their foundation degree in internet and business technologies, the students formally handed over the website yesterday to David Binelli, owner and director of DBS Ltd York.

Richard Hind, their tutor at the college, said: “The professional project module is the culmination of two years study and draws together the knowledge and skills the students have gained during their studies. It is an opportunity for them to design, build, deliver and above all, manage a real project for a business client using industry standard tools and techniques such as Microsoft Project and PRINCE2.”

The project was such a success that Mr Hind is now welcoming small IT projects from local organisations, which could run from January to May 2012.
