YORK-based family sign business, Harrison’s Signs Ltd, has won the celebrity seal of approval from TV chef James Martin after being handpicked to produce the signs for his new restaurant.

James ensured all suppliers for The Leeds Kitchen, based in Alea Casino in Clarence Dock, were locally sourced.

He said: “I’m from York, so I wanted to support as many local businesses as possible. Choosing Harrison’s to produce the signage was a natural step in this process, and I’m thrilled with the results.

“Harrison’s did a great job for me. They were eager and willing to take on extra work, no matter how big or small the task.”

Harrison’s created two main focal signs for The Leeds Kitchen, which were fabricated from brushed stainless steel, and had to be rolled to give the signs a curved face. The lettering was fret cut out of the steel, inlaid with prismatic acrylic, and illuminated using the latest state of the art LEDs.

Richard Hunter, sales director at Harrison’s Signs, said: “We built a good relationship with James, who trusted us enough to cut, mount and frame his original 1920s prints, which are now a central feature in the restaurant. One print measured two metres, so proved pretty challenging to install.”
