ONE in three people in Yorkshire has felt overwhelmed by communications technology – including texting, email and social networking – to the point that they feel they need to escape it.
And that includes young people.
An international study, led by the University of Cambridge and sponsored by BT, has found that 38 per cent of ten to 18-year-olds claim to feel this way, with 25 to 34-year-olds not far behind, with 34 per cent of them feeling “overwhelmed.”
The survey also found that more than a quarter (28 per cent) of people in Yorkshire and the Humber had made a priority of reducing their use of social networking sites.
This was followed by a reduction in sending texts and then emails (18 per cent).
