LOGIC Fire and Security of Knaresborough has successfully completed its first project for Crossrail – the largest addition to the south-east rail network in 50 years and the biggest construction project ever undertaken in Europe.
The North Yorkshire company provided fire protection and a public address voice alarm system at Crossrail’s Tunnelling and Underground Construction Academy (TUCA), a purpose-built facility that will provide training in the key skills required to work in tunnel excavation, underground construction and infrastructure.
The £60 billion underground urban metro service will link Maidenhead and Heathrow in the west to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east, using 21 kilometres of new tunnels under central London.
Sean McPartland, who founded Logic with his brother Andy in 2001, said the contract with Crossrail paved the way for greater involvement in the project over the next eight years.
“Our aim is to secure the contract to supply the bulk of the fire and security systems for the entire scheme to create what could potentially become the largest fire alarm network in Europe,” he said.
