WILLIAM Anelay, one of York’s oldest firms, has won a contract to re-roof the Caddies Wainwright building in the latest phase of regeneration works at Wakefield Waterfront.
Works on the disused Victorian textile mill include stripping the roofs, timber and leadwork repairs and reinstating existing slates, as well as safeguarding an 18th century watermill with a supporting scaffolding frame and a temporary roof.
The building conservation and restoration specialists, which dates back to 1747, has won the contract after completing the refurbishment of Althorp House in Northamptonshire, the ancestral home and resting place of Diana, Princess of Wales, on which it was principal contractor.
