A FIVE-acre mixed-use development is about to be brought forward in Pocklington following the completion of a vital road link.
BroadHelm Park, which comprises 11.3 hectares of land outside Pocklington Business Park, is about to submit a planning application for a project involving an array of uses in five acres at the south end of the park, said director Jonathan Atkinson.
The progress follows the completion of a new road diversion and roundabout with the A1079, which creates a new entrance into the town of Pocklington.
Mr Atkinson said: “It’s brought a lot of interest to the southern part of the site, which adjoins the roundabout. We have had an awful lot of interest in that site for an array of uses.”
He said they expect to submit a planning application to East Riding of Yorkshire Council in the next four to six weeks.
He said: “It will mean a significant number of new jobs for Pocklington. The new road really has been the stepping-stone for the next stage of the development.”
The developer has already got permission to extend the link road up into the existing Pocklington Business Park when it develops the northern part of the site, the timing of which will be demand-driven and depend on the market.
The £1.4 million road improvements have been on the table for 25 years, and BroadHelm has been planning the park for about ten years, said Jonathan.
He added: “We’re delighted that our best laid plans have now come to fruition.
“We can now take our foot off the brake and move forward because of this infrastructure.”
