PAVERS Shoes is meeting 80 per cent of its electricity requirements with new polycrystalline solar panels.
The 432 solar panels, which amount to 100Kw, have been installed on the roof of Pavers’ head office and distribution centre at Northminster Business Park. The panels, which are expected to generate more than 80,000 Kwh of clean electricity a year for the company, will also supply electricity back to the National Grid.
The company invested £298,000 in the system, installed by GMI Renewable Energy Group, which covers an area of 735 square metres and is expected to save 43.3 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year.
Stuart Paver, managing director of Pavers Shoes, said: “This has been a major investment for Pavers in our quest to be part of the solution to climate change rather than being part of the problem.”
