PHIL Robinson, a private client associate at Langleys Solicitors in York, has qualified as a Notary Public.
Phil, 35, has a portfolio of residential property clients at Langleys and also advises in relation to wills, probate and administration of estates. Notaries are a separate independent legal profession, which assist clients in areas such as certifying identity, assisting with international business transactions or witnessing and legalising foreign powers of attorney, affidavits, court and commercial and property documents.
Langleys has also made Darren Morgan, who joins as head of dispute resolution from Greenwoods in Peterborough, a partner.

YORK law firm Rollits has appointed Alison Benson as associate in its family team. Alison previously worked at Andrew Jackson in Hull and is an accredited family mediator and accredited collaborative practitioner.

THE CLA (Country Land and Business Association) has appointed new territory manager Dave Hill.
Dave, of Pateley Bridge, previously spent six years as sales manager for a Harrogate-based estate agent and will be responsible for recruiting new members to the association from across the county.

KNARESBOROUGH software business Warp Media has appointed David Powell, a management consultant who will evaluate the company’s sales and marketing strategies and develop new routes to market. Mr Powell’s appointment coincides with the launch of a new online customer relationship manager (CRM) software.

Northern Rail has appointed three new directors.
Alan Chaplin, who has held a number of senior posts with global transport organisations such as Veolia Transdev and National Express Group, joins the York-based train operator as chief operating officer.
Jonathan Stewart, who has run a transport business in the Middle East having previously worked with First West and North Yorkshire, has been appointed commercial director.
Richard Allan has been promoted from promoted from assistant area director to area director for Yorkshire and Humberside, Tyne Tees and Wear.
Chris Hearld, KPMG
A YORK accountant has been made senior partner of KPMG’s Yorkshire office in Leeds.
Chris Hearld, who grew up in Huntington and now lives in Stockton-on-the-Forest, is an audit partner at KPMG.
He was president of York’s Society of Chartered Accountants in 2006 and joined the firm 18 years ago, making partner at the age of 33.
Rosie Guenzel, Ware & Kay
Rosie Guenzel has joined solicitors Ware & Kay as marketing manager. Rosie, joins from accountants JWPCreers LLP, where she spent three years in the same role.
Jason Wardill, Hotel du Vin
NEW head chef Jason Wardill has joined Hotel du Vin in Harrogate. Originally from Bridlington, Jason moved to Australia for three years, before returning to his Yorkshire roots to join the Michelin-starred Rascasse in Leeds. He was subsequently head chef at Rudding Park and Swinton Park, and joins Hotel du Vin from Nidd Hall Hotel.
Sarah Fussey, Best Western
INDEPENDENT hotel group Best Western, based in York, has appointed Sarah Fussey as its new head of marketing for Great Britain.
Sarah, who was previously head of marketing and business development at the Youth Hostel Association will head up the corporate and leisure marketing teams for Best Western, Great Britain and develop multi-channel strategies to drive the brand and the ‘Hotels with Personality’ strategy.
Matt Parsons, York Potash
York Potash has recruited Matt Parsons as education and skills manager to help it develop the skills and qualifications that local people would need to work in its planned potash mine.
Matt joins from Scarborough Borough Council, where he worked as employment and skills manager and regeneration officer.

THREE new appointments and promotions have been made to Yorkshire Bank’s North Yorkshire agri-business team.
Graham Lilley joins from a similar role in the south east, Gordon Blackwood, who has been with Yorkshire Bank for eight years, joins from the commercial lending team and Simon Addison, who has been with the team for five years, has been promoted to agri-business partner.
