YORK’S newest visitor attraction, Chocolate – York’s Sweet Story, has already won a tourism award.
The attraction in Kings Square, which opened on March 31 and tells the story of chocolate in York, has received the Group Travel Organiser Editors’ Award for Innovation in Tourism.
The special award, introduced two years ago, aims to identify new and innovative products being introduced into the group travel market. It was presented at a ceremony at the Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel in London.
Abbe Bates, Editor of Group Travel Organiser magazine said: “The experience that Chocolate – York’s Sweet Story provides visitors with is both engaging and of real quality.
“The way in which history and heritage are presented has changed hugely in the past few decades with new technologies and approaches, and the people behind this attraction are making a reputation for themselves as experts in their field.
“The attraction has done well to create an immersive experience where groups are given their own chocolatier as a guide and the chance to taste, smell and feel chocolate as part of a visit.”
