TEAMS of pupils competed in business simulation computer game SimVenture at the Umph! business and enterprise competition.
The event, which was open to 16-19 year-old students from across Yorkshire, is part of the Educate To Innovate initiative to encourage entrepreneurialism and forge links between businesses and education in the region.
Rossett School in Harrogate won the game, which was devised by York businessman Peter Harrington and his brother, Paul. Peter was one of a number of Yorkshire entrepreneurs supporting the competition and advising students on business and enterprise skills in small workshop sessions.
Peter said: “SimVenture is a fun way of engaging students in authentic learning about business. Being entrepreneurial is such an important quality. It’s an attitude of mind and it’s what’s needed for this country to succeed economically, so initiatives such as Umph! are extremely valuable.”
