AN ARTISAN preserves maker is the toast of the London art scene after artist Tom Martin featured a painting of one of her products in an exhibition.

Sally Hargrave, owner of the Harrogate Preserves Co, said she was taken by surprise when Tom emailed her his painting of one of her range of preserves.

She said: “He said he had bought my jar of Hot Marmalade from a shop in York, and was so inspired by the packaging and the look of the product that he decided to feature it as a subject of one of his paintings.”

The large painting, entitled A Little Bit Of Love’, features a jar of Sally’s marmalade next to two pieces of toast, with a teaspoon balanced at the front. It was recently part of an exhibition entitled London’s Calling at the Plus One Gallery, a showcase for contemporary art in Chelsea.
