SCHOOL pals brewed up a successful tea party to raise awareness of Fairtrade.
Olivia Smith, a Year 6 pupil at Stamford Bridge Primary School, read about Fairtrade in a magazine and decided to organise an event to raise awareness.
Along with friends Emily Shaw, Selina Broadley and Georgina Jenkinson, they spoke to other children in assembly and set up a committee.
They wrote to various organisations asking for support and organised all the advertising for the tea party. The children served free refreshments, put on a raffle and organised stalls selling Fairtrade cakes and goods.
The purpose of the event was to raise awareness, but the tea party did raise £35.24, which will be donated to Fairtrade.
Fairtrade guarantees farming families a fair price for their harvest, enabling them to improve their housing, healthcare and education.
