A YOUNG maths expert from Osbaldwick who began studying the subject at the age of five has gained an A* grade GCSE four years ahead of others his age.
For Warren Li, 12, subjects such as trigonometric functions and differential calculus are all in a day’s work and he is now on the way to a degree-level understanding of the subject.
Since 2003 Warren has attended classes at the Kumon study centre in Fulford, where students are encouraged to develop their knowledge through independent learning, intended to complement the National Curriculum.
Warren is pictured receiving the award from David Cowan, of Kumon UK.
