YORK’S two universities have improved their rankings in a poll to find the best British university according to students.
The University of York came 32nd in the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey, up on last year’s position of 47 out of 94.
York St John University was 54 compared to 72nd last year.
The survey asked more than 13,000 undergraduates to rate their university on 21 different factors, from the quality of teaching to the social life on campus.
Loughborough, which came first, scored highly for its sports facilities, campus environment, extracurricular activities, social life, students’ union and library.
The university has topped the poll for the fifth year.
In second place this year was Sheffield University, and in third was the University of East Anglia.
