THE winners of a Dragon’s Den-style school event in North Yorkshire have been announced.

Pupils from All Saints’ School in York and Rossett School in Harrogate have been crowned Griffins Nest Winner in their categories, after schools from across York and North Yorkshire battled it out in the Grand Final of this year’s CPP Griffins Nest challenge.

NYBEP, the Education Business Partnership based in York, challenged students from colleges and secondary schools to devise a prototype of a product or service that could help or benefit the community. The “Tub Bud” team from All Saints’ School, with their idea to design a revolutionary device which lets you know when your bath is full, was the overall winner for the post-16 category and the Biz Kidz team from Rossett School was the winner of the pre-16 category. Each team walked away with an investment of £100 and a cheque for £250 for the school.

More than 40 teams comprising more than 200 14 and 18-year-olds from across York and North Yorkshire took part in the challenge. Eighteen teams were eventually put forward to the final which was held at Venturefest Yorkshire, at York Racecourse.
