RICHARD Herring presents the tenth anniversary update of Talking Cock, his “exposé of the truth about men and their flutes of love” at the Grand Opera House, York, on March 9 at 8pm.
“It’s an object of shame and pride; it inspires laughter and fear,” says Herring. “It’s a symbol of power yet it’s incredibly fragile; it can be a pound of flesh or an ounce of winkles. It can be used to express both love and hate. It creates life; it can condemn us to death. How can one tiny flap of sponge and sinew be all these things?”
Herring will answer his own question in a show that has been performed in a dozen European languages and translated into as many languages, as well as being published in book form by Ebury Press. Tickets cost £16 on 0844 871 3024 or atg.tickets.com/york
Courtesy of the Grand Opera House, What’s On has three pairs to be won.
Question: Who published the book version of Talking Cock?
• Answer with name, address and daytime phone number to Charles Hutchinson, Herring Competition, The Press, 76-86 Walmgate, York, YO1 9YN, by Wednesday.
