YOU may well have heard about the spectacularly obvious research findings this week that outbursts of anger can give you a heart attack.
It is enough to make you lose your rag. High time, then, to watch Jo Caulfield losing it but enjoyably so as she explores the things that irritate, annoy and irk her while embracing the joys of feeling angry about them, no matter how petty they may seem to others.
“I’m a great believer in letting rip and expressing my anger,” says Jo. “Whether it’s prompted by someone being rude, the ridiculous romantic rituals my friends are following, or life in general, I love to have a good rant. It’s the only sensible approach most of the time.
“Let’s face it, so many things are annoying or unnecessarily silly that if you don’t stop to laugh at them, they may very well drive you up the wall.”
Finding the funny in the frustrations of life is 48-year-old Jo’s trademark in a comedy career that has made her a regular guest on to Mock The Week and Have I Got News For You.
However, she is the first to admit that getting mad does not always mean getting even. “On more than one occasion, my anger has backfired and got me into trouble,” she admits.
How much trouble? Find out in Jo Caulfield’s Celebration Of Anger on Sunday at the Hyena Lounge.
