VETERAN Brummie comic and folk musician Jasper Carrott will present his Stand Up And Rock show at the Grand Opera House, York, on Monday, November 24.

A career spanning five decades started when Carrott became resident compére at the Boggery Folk Club in Birmingham in the mid-1970s. There he discovered his talent for comedy and, he says, his inability to sing.

He became a stalwart of the British folk club scene, leading to his comedy single Funky Moped charting in 1975 en route to establishing him as a household name overnight. The flipside was his take on The Magic Roundabout, a record still sought out today by a new generation.

Numerous television shows and series kept Carrott at the forefront of British television and his concert tours have taken him across the globe. Tickets for his 7.30pm York show cost £26 on 0844 8713024 or at atgtickets.com/york
