FLOOD stopped play last weekend, but The Other Side Comedy Club resurfaces in the Basement Bar of City Screen on Sunday.
"It's a welcome return after the last show was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch, although there are rumours that one of the ducks that did attend last Sunday has just signed a television development deal, " jokes promoter Toby Clouston-Jones.
This Sunday's show, however, features an act already known to millions the world over.
John Simmit spent six years playing Dipsy on The Tellytubbies.
"It's probably a shock to every parent to find out that John is a Cuban-Jamaican Brummie stand-up comedian, who has carved out a fine parallel career in comedy clubs all round the world, " says Toby.
"As well as his children's television work, John has appeared regularly on The Real McCoy and Malai Nights."
On the bill too will be punk-rock poet Paul B Edwards. "His cheeky songs about all manner of subjects make him a favourite all around the world. For seven years he has been one of the hosts of the Comedy Tent at the Reading Festival and, in his 15-year career, he has played every comedy club known to man."
This weekend's guest compere is York's very own Dan Willis. Doors open at 7.30pm for the 8pm start; tickets £8, concessions £7, on 0870 758 3219.
