THE concept of standing still in front of the microphone is totally alien to Sunday's acts at The Other Side Comedy Club.

Rex Boyd left Kansas for Britain ten years ago and divides his time between stand-up and street performance.

"His energy and astonishing work rate bring rooms to life as the audience becomes part of a show that is partly scripted but mostly improvised around set themes," says Toby Clouston Jones, Other Side promoter.

Mark Walker, son of Catchphrase host Roy Walker, will mix finely crafted jokes with physical comedy.

"He's played The Other Side a couple of times and left the audiences clutching at their sides with laughter, and the last ten minutes of his set have to be seen to be believed," says Toby.

Dan Atkinson, founder and resident compere for the first five years of The Other Side, makes his always triumphant return to host what should be a happy Sunday night of comedy (just so long as England beat the Aussies in the cricket in the afternoon, otherwise Dan could be in a foul mood).

Doors open at 7.30pm for the 8pm start in the Basement Bar of City Screen, York. Tickets: £8, concessions £7, on 0870 758 3219.
