YORK Theatre Royal hands over its main stage to three comedians on Monday for a night of comic relief after the political tensions of this month’s General Election.
Forming their own coalition will be Phil Nichol, Paul Kerensa and Jo Enright, while master of ceremonies Geoff Whiting will make sure all parties have their say.
Headliner Nichol, the 2006 winner of the IF.com award at the Edinburgh Fringe, is a comedian, actor, producer, presenter, writer and musician with a thirst to break boundaries with his work. His mischievous rants carry a keen sense of the absurd, an eye for the shocking and a swerve to the surreal.
Exiled Cornishman Kerensa writes for BBC1 sitcoms Not Going Out and After You’ve Gone and sketch shows such as Dead Ringers and earlier in his career won ITV’s Take The Mike stand-up competition in 2002.
Enright performs on television, radio and the stand-up circuit and has appeared as a character actress in BBC1’s Lab Rats and Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights, Britain’s Got The Pop Factor and Possibly A New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly On Ice.
• Comedy at York Theatre Royal with Phil Nichol, Paul Kerensa and Jo Enright, Monday, 7.30pm.
