THE corpulent king of controversial comedy, Roy “Chubby” Brown, is back in York this month, turning the air blue at the Grand Opera House with his usual flashing warning sign: “If easily offended, please stay away!”
Be prepared for a barnstorming night of rude jokes, crude banter and mucky mickey-taking from the Middlesbrough joker.
“It's basically building-site humour,” he says. “I'm no more a racialist than the man on the moon. I couldn't care if you were black, white, yellow, green, fat, thin; I have enough problems of my own.
“The bottom line is that all comedy is supposed to be funny, whether it's black, blue or satire and I've always said that if people don't like what I say, they can answer back.”
Tickets are still available for Chubby's July 22 show at £21 on 0844 847 2322 or online at grandoperahouseyork.org.uk.
