ROB Rouse is a late addition to Sunday’s Edinburgh Preview double bill of hour-long sets at the Hyena Lounge Comedy Club, joining atheist vicar’s son Markus Birdman in The Basement, City Screen, York, at 7.30pm.

Rouse, star of 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Friday Night Project and Spoons, embarked on his first national tour with his 2009 Edinburgh storytelling show, My Family And The Dog That Scared Jesus, when fate dealt York a blow.

“The first date was supposed to be at the Hyena Lounge, but the ash cloud which grounded all international flights left him stranded in Dubai and unable to play the show,” recalls promoter Toby Clouston-Jones.

“But he’s definitely coming on Sunday with his new show, in which he’s knuckling down and sorting himself out as he attempts to become a role model to his two-year-old son and a better partner to his girlfriend, while finding solution to the problem of just how do you control the world’s filthiest dog.”

Doors open at 7pm; tickets cost £8 on 0871 902 5726 or picturehouses.co.uk

• News just in: Jon Richardson will be on the Edinburgh Preview bill on July 25.
