OUT go Dana Alexander and Andrea Hubert, in come replacements Barry Dodds and Lloyd Griffith at tomorrow's Hyena Lounge Comedy Club night in the Basement bar at City Screen, York.
The 8pm bill still features the dry, slick James Redmond, a former model and Hollyoaks and Casualty actor, who switched to stand-up and now deconstructs his art in his stand-up show.
Barry Dodds is a Hyena Lounge favourite with his tailored combination of disarming Geordie wit and wry, down-to-earth observational humour, while Grimsby-born, London-living Lloyd Griffith is tipped for stardom after three years on the circuit.
“Lloyd was part of the Big Value show at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe, and this year he returns there as part of the prestigious AAA show,” says Hyena Lounge promoter Toby Clouston-Jones. “We reckon he will be a household name before too long.”
Danny Deegan, a Mancunian who settled in York, will be tomorrow's host with his fresh-faced boy-band demeanour, mischievous witticisms and brutally sharp anecdotes.
The Hyena Lounge’s Edinburgh Preview double bill on Sunday at 7.30pm features one-hour shows by Pete Firman and Lloyd Langford.
Firman, star of BBC1’s The Magicians and Five’s Monkey Magic, gleefully injects his magic act with an anarchic, off-beat humour that will be seen on Channel 4 later this year when he presents Dirty Tricks, a Friday night studio magic show.
Langford is a Welsh stand-up and writer who is a regular panel member on Ask Rhod Gilbert.
Doors open at 7.15pm tomorrow and 7pm on Sunday. Box office: 0871 902 5726
