CHRIS Ramsey, “probably the hottest new name in comedy at the moment”, previews his Edinburgh Fringe show in full at the Hyena Lounge Comedy Club in York on Sunday.

Already the north-easterner has tried out 20 minutes of material from Feeling Lucky in the first Saturday Hyena Lounge bill of the summer in June, having already visited the club on his Offermation tour in March.

In the autumn, he will star alongside Vic Reeves in the new BBC2 sitcom Hebburn, taking his burgeoning career to new heights. “He’s a firm friend of the Hyena Lounge, where he’s been playing for the past three years,” says promoter Toby Clouston-Jones.

Joining Chris in the Basement bar at City Screen, York, will be Dan Nightingale.

“He’s quite simply the best comedian you’ve never heard of,” says Toby.

“He’s played the Hyena Lounge for almost ten years and has stolen the show on every occasion.

“No wonder Dan has been described by Russell Howard as ‘the only comedian who makes me sweat with fear as to how good he is’.” Tomorrow night Toby presents a Hyena Lounge Saturday Night bill of anecdotal star-in-the-making Joe Lycett, St Helens storyteller Dave Twentyman, fresh-faced, acidic Mancunian supply teacher Sean Moran and compere Kevin Dewsbury.

“A safer pair of hands to host a show would be hard to find,” says Toby.

Doors open at 7.15pm for tomorrow’s 8pm start; 7pm for 7.30pm on Sunday. For tickets, phone 0871 902 5726 or book online at hyenalounge.com
