A COLLECTION of oil paintings depicting members of an acclaimed artist’s family have gone on show in York.
The large-scale portraits, created over a four-year period by Harvey Taylor, have been scaled up from digital pictures. They can be viewed at the Norman Rea Gallery at the University of York, following an opening event this week.
The free exhibition, entitled Portraits, is curated by Mayssa Kachicho, an undergraduate student from the university’s York Management School and the gallery’s director.
Colchester-based Mr Taylor won the Wyss Painting Prize in 2011. His work was recently shown as the Eastern Open in Kings Lynn.
The gallery is run by university students above the courtyard in Derwent College and hosts exhibitions of work by students and professional artists throughout the year. Portraits will be on display between 9am and 5pm on weekdays until May 15.
