YORK artist Kate Kenney is exhibiting at The Coast Gallery, Mill Lane, Cloughton, near Scarborough, from tomorrow until the first week of March.
She will be sharing space with fellow North Yorkshire artists Sue Slack and Adam King in an exhibition entitled A Trip To The Coast that celebrates the coastal Yorkshire landscape and its traditions. The gallery is open daily and has a café and parking.
Meanwhile, Kate will take part in the first Donderdag Collective exhibition throughout February in the White Room Gallery, Priestley’s No 36, Bootham, York.
The group is so named because the members gather on a Thursday and Donderdag is the Dutch/Flemish word for that day.
“One of the founding members, Griet Beyeart, is a Flemish-speaking Belgian; she lives in York now,” says Kate. “Founded in 2011, we’re a York group of artists who meet weekly to explore the possibilities and challenges of the life model,” says Kate.
“The members come from a variety of artistic backgrounds including an illustrator, a writer-researcher and an artist who was selected for the 2013 Royal Academy Open exhibition.”
The Donderdag Collective comprises Kate, Griet, Jeanne Godfrey, Lesley Birch, Swea Sayers, Diane Cobbolds, Raymond Fern, Richard Cobbolds, Terry Brett and Peter Huddlestone.
“Life Drawing is our first exhibition and showcases drawings in the raw, as they have been done, without alteration,” says Kate. “You will see a variety of styles and media as befits such a happy mix of characters that make up our group.”
• The White Room Gallery is open from 10am to 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday. A second Donderdag Collective exhibition will follow in May.
