AN EXHIBITION of sculptures by a North Yorkshire artist will take place in Haxby this week.
Reptile To Reef is a collection of ceramic sculptures of reptiles, marine life and insects by Jill Moger, from Nether Poppleton, and will be on display at the Blake Gallery until November 19.
Jill, who has been a sculptor for 30 years, said: "I have included several of my favourite subjects in this exhibition, many of them endangered species.
"Reptiles are still relatively misunderstood and under represented in art but I hope that depicting them as sculpture will raise awareness of their plight in the wild and even help to encourage people to support the conservation of some of these beautiful creatures."
The exhibit coincides with the release of Jill's new book, which shares its title with the exhibition, and highlights the plight of coral reefs around the world.
Jill, who is an elected member of the Society of Wildlife Artists and the Society of Women Artists, will also be signing copies of her book and available to talk about her work at the gallery on Saturday between 10am and noon.
