AN EXHIBITION of ceramics by Ben Arnup is on display at The Blake Gallery.

Ben, of York, was obsessed with space and the built environment from an early age and initially trained as a landscape architect.

He has now worked as a ceramic artist for 20 years and has developed a specific style from a variety of sources, including medieval painting, Italian church floors and modern artists such as Le Corbusier and Dirk Huizer.

Ben studied art on foundation at York School of Art, became a full time potter in 1986 and taught ceramics at Selby College between 1989 and 2001 A distinctive feature of his work is the transformation of perspective which is re-interpreted in three dimensions.

His ceramics are in public collections in England and international private collections. He shows internationally too, including exhibitions in Belgium and the Netherlands, most recently in Philadelphia last Easter.

The exhibition will run until Saturday, May 5, between 10am and 5pm, every day except Tuesdays and Sundays.
