The ArtSpace Winter Show is a collection of new work from the York gallery’s most successful artists from the year.

“This isn’t a ‘greatest hits’ compilation, this is as fresh and as exuberant as anything we’ve ever done,” says Greg McGee, co-owner of the gallery in Tower Street.

“Richard Barnes continues his ascent to being York’s answer to Jackson Pollock with new York cityscapes; Lesley Seeger is back with new, thrillingly flirty work and newcomer Rob Johnson flexes his craftsman’s muscle with some of the most carefully observed portraits ArtSpace has ever seen.”

Most exciting of all, suggests Greg, is the new double act on show in the back studio: Jo and Rosie Bramley.

“Both sold well in our Elementals show and bring an exciting new energy to ArtSpace,” he says. “The sisters enjoyed a noteworthy duo exhibition at Holy Trinity, Goodramgate, and it was this that really led us to coming back to them.

“They have a real sense of nature and authenticity, and the synergy between their work is exciting to see. We’d like to offer them another duo show, but this time at ArtSpace. They’re certainly talented enough to merit real attention, and their professional approach is a pleasure to be around.”

• The Winter Show will run until January 28.
