Staff and friends of The Mount School, York, are to hold a showcase of artwork for the first time, beginning with a preview on Sunday from 3pm to 5pm.
The initial inspiration for the exhibition came from the school’s involvement in the 2004 and 2006 York Open Studios, and now Mount School art staff Sian Gabraitis and Francesca King have teamed up with creative studies specialist teachers and artists Kim Gibson (textiles), Andrea Cundell (ceramics) and Jo Bagshaw (jewellery).
Taking part too will be York fine artists Nicholas King and Robert Ford, who were involved in the York Artisans’ summer exhibition at the Pine and Oak Interiors, in Piccadilly, last year.
At tomorrow’s event, there will be an opportunity to view the artists’ additional collections and sketchbooks.
The exhibition will run until May 28, open daily from 10am to 3.30pm by appointment on 01904 667500. Artists will make a donation from any sales to the Mount School charities, Smile Train and the Motor Neurone Disease Association
