Adult learners studying art courses at York College are exhibiting in the college gallery from Monday.
The Articulture show features life drawing, leaded glass, ceramics, kiln-formed glass, painting and drawing by part-time students, many of them at Level 1 on the National Open College Network Scheme and likewise many exhibiting for the first time.
Tutor Chuck Lindley says: “The standard of work is extremely high. The part-time art courses present a wonderful opportunity for learners to explore the different avenues of art and craft.”
On show too will be work by part-time adult students in the second year of their HNC fine art course. Tutor Andre Yaniw says: “York College offers courses that can lead adult learners into professional art careers and work in the creative industries, even if they’ve never studied art at school. Come along and see for yourself.”
Articulture has run already at York Theatre Royal from May 4 to 17 as part of Adult Learners’ Week. Opening hours at York College will be 9am to 9pm, May 24 to June 17.
