YORK artist Andy Lee is exhibiting paintings and drawings in the corridor gallery at York Theatre Royal until May 31.
“The pictures are based on life experiences and feelings of joy, sorrow, anger and amazement at the events and experiences that life throws at us,” he says.
Originally an art teacher, Andy went on to run youth and community centres and art-based events and festivals. After this he spent time in Florida, the Yorkshire Dales and Brixham in Devon and he has now retired to York, expressing himself through his artwork.
“You know how you are just jogging along in life, and suddenly you experience something that makes you go ‘Wow!’ or ‘Look at that!’ or ‘Oh no!’ or ‘I hate that!’? These are the moments that make me want to paint,” he says.
